Ethics in the Age of Digital Transactions
Contains material from May 2020
I wouldn't have spent time on smart contracts. It is a complex subject that needs deeper treatment to be helpful. Here, most problems that I think about are not even raised as an issue. (And, no, I don't have the answers to those questions.) I also thought the crypto currency issue was probably premature. I am the GC of a technology company and we have never been asked to take payment in crypto currency. Since we pay our people in US dollars, taking it would imply that we needed a hedging strategy, for example. Here, the concept of it being a "currency" disappears when you peg the amount of crypto currency exchanged for a service to a traditional currency. On a different note, on some subjects, it seemed like Ashley was not aware that Trang was going to ask her view. I think that should be worked out ahead of time so that more meaningful responses could be prepared.
