FCPA and UK Bribery Act Risks and Compliance (Jun 2014)
Technology companies continue to be in the FCPA enforcement crosshairs of the U.S. Department of Justice and SEC. Since 2004, the computer and technology sector has been the fifth most investigated for potential foreign bribery; out of the more than 90 companies that are reportedly being investigated for FCPA violations, approximately one sixth of them are high-tech, including companies like IBM, Oracle, Hewlett Packard and Motorola Solutions. The emergence of the UK Bribery Act and other local anti-corruption laws creates additional risks for the sector. Learn recent enforcement trends, specific foreign bribery risks that tech companies often confront overseas, and best practices for addressing compliance.
