Excellent!

i thought the first case update with Mr Singh could have been better if Mr. Singh was not one of the presenters. it seemed liked he was either laughing, giggling, or smirking on the audio recording. somewhat offputting. the chapter 13 could have been better if the comments elicited weren’t so general. the hour could have been a more useful if the presentation was more detailed. it would have been nice if the smackdown was longer so as to include a ruling. Judge Bohm’s ethics hour was excellent given the crowd participation and the judges’ participation. we have such great bankruptcy judges in Texas —- it would be great if the judges conducted even more individual classes. i like Henry Hobbs — but rather than simply give dry stats about filings —- how about if Henry went through the nits and nats of a motion to dismiss for abuse? wouldn’t that be a better use of henry’s time and more beneficial for the attendees. how to defend the exemption —- i think both mr peake and ms tran are smart lawyers but something was missing from their presentation and it could have been much better. i wish the community property section of the intersection of probate and bk class was longer and more indepth. overall, i always like this cle conference.

Recordings kept playing out after 2 minutes. Had to reboot several times

How to Claim, Attack, and Defend Exemptions (Aug 2018)

Discuss how the use of exemptions in bankruptcy reorganizations are designed to aid the individual debtor in achieving a fresh start and protect certain property from the claims of creditors. Absent exemptions, a debtor could be rendered destitute by the claims of creditors. Whether applied to property owned at the time of filing, or acquired post-petition, exemptions are not a windfall; but drafted in a form to try and ensure that creditors receive some cash payments on their claims.
